Encounter Point follows Palestinian and Jewish individuals bereaved by political violence as they take risks in the face of personal agony and social pressure to attempt reconciliation and dialogue. The Parents Circle–Families Forum is an Israeli-founded grassroots organization of Israelis and Palestinians living under Israeli occupation who have all lost an immediate family member in the conflict.
Filmmakers Avni and Bacha feelingly capture the grief and struggle of subjects including a Palestinian activist whose brother was killed by Israeli soldiers, and an Israeli mother whose son was shot by a Palestinian sniper, as they risk everything to open dialogue.
The film provides an opportunity to investigate the potential of individual acts of cooperation and reconciliation in the context of ongoing violence and Israel’s displacement and dispossession of Palestinians.
