VIRTUAL SCREENING: I Am From Palestine & Angel of Gaza

The Chicago Palestine Film Festival invites you to attend the virtual screening of two short films: I AM FROM PALESTINE, produced by Rifk Ebeid and directed by Iman Zawhary; and ANGEL OF GAZA, directed by Ahmed Mansour. We hope to see you all there to support Palestinian filmmakers and perspectives.

As Saamidah, a young Palestinian-American girl, anxiously starts her first day of school, she finds her identity in question when faced with a world map that doesn't include her homeland.

ABOUT THE FILMMAKERS

Rifk Ebeid is a Palestinian American Muslim writer, attorney, and pediatric speech language pathologist. She is the author of two children’s picture books about Palestine, including “You Are the Color” and “Baba, What Does My Name Mean? A Journey To Palestine,” which was nominated for the 2020 Palestine Book Awards and came in highly recommended by their panel of judges. She is also the producer of “I Am From Palestine,” an award winning animated short film about the Palestinian-American experience in school. 

Ahmed Mansour is an award-winning filmmaker and visionary from Gaza, Palestine. Before moving to the US in 2015, he made a series of short films highlighting the humanitarian crisis in Gaza Strip. Ahmed's debut was his feature film "Brooklyn Inshallah" that had its World Premiere at the 2019 Mountainfilm Festival and New York City Premiere at DOC NYC. He was named the 2019 MountainFilm Emerging Filmmaker Fellow based in Telluride, Colorado. He’s currently serves as the creative director at Filistia Films, a company he founded in 2020.
